How's everybody liking their GameScouts so far? I'm curious on cheek weld using a 42mm scope in Talley Lows, on a LA 700.

Yes Mainly prone. It's a hunting rifle, but I have rifles that I take hunting more often...Gets shot at steel more than anything. Tanner

Well, I missed your scope size by 2mm but all else qualifies.... So far I can't find any flies on this rig. Stock Rem 7Mag with Talley lows and a 4.5-14X40. Cheek weld is excellent. Feels as good off the bench as it does off hand, but I'm a big fan of vertical grips..... CR

I had one for a bit. Was not terribly impressed, as I found it to be a bastard tweener. Not well suited for an all around hunting stock, yet the comb wasnt quite high enough to really suit me prone. Its usable. But the factory stock is also usable and costs nothing.
If I were in the market for a stock like you describe, I would look at the Manners EH offerings. Higher comb for a really good cheek weld, with decently slender ergos and light weight for a rifle which will be carried.

I ordered one. Bolted it up. Thought it was a complete goat [bleep]. Might be ok with the Talley lows you want to run. I agree with the suggestions to look at the Manners EH line.

bought 2 at the same time and they are comfortable for hunting bench, prone not so much. the a-3 sporter would be a better choice for cheek weld. im going to send mine in for a adjustable cheek. you should be ok running low talleys and 42 obj. I run picatanny rigging so it makes it hard to mount low.

I have three of them and find they are to low for me I've actually ordered two stocks to replace two of them
As someone else mentioned, the Manners EH line is very nice

Thanks for the input dudes. I am thinking that I am going to opt for the McMillan Hunter instead, it looks like it'll suit my needs a bit better.

I had one on a 220 swift Ackley. I liked it sitting off sticks but other than that it was not my favorite. Ended up swapping it out for a Manners MCS-SL.

I prefer the McMillan Hunter over the GS stocks The McMillan hunter is my favorite walking/carrying type hunter stock
A McMillan Hunter and Talley lows are perfect for me
Excellent choice

all they are is a vertical gripped remington classic stock. If you like the remington classic stock you will probably like this better. I think the vertical grip is an advantage shooting in all positions. I run a remington classic on my long range rifles. if you put a stock pack on them you should gain the 3/16" or so that you need. If I was ordering my stocks again I would get the game scout. but then again I am different from most guys in that I actually don't prefer my scope mounted as low as possible but rather in the most comfortable posistion for me, which normally is a tad higher than what most people around here seem to run.

I have several and find them to be a great solution, especially with the adjustable cheek piece. The fixed cheek model is identical to the classic fixed cheek. Works fine with lows. I'd go adjustable every time, though. That's on a GS or a manners or whatever. Just removes the issue completely. I've never found the higher-comb fixed models adequate. If the cheek was high enough you'd never be able to remove the bolt. I'll find a pic of my latest GS build.

The Manners EH3 was built for what you describe. The McHunter is a larger stock with a thicker grip, lower comb, and more drop at heel. Call Tom and he'll glady send you one to handle.
