I'm looking for feedback on Cameraland of NY "open box" binos.

I'm considering a purchase, but before I do, I'd like to hear from other Fire members that have purchased "open box" optics from them and what condition the optics arrived in. Please list any scratches, scuffs, etc. that were on your item.

I'll be shocked if you can tell the product from new.
I've purchased several pieces in "open box / demo" fashion and all appeared new.

+100 , I have purchased a lot of open box demo items and to say I am satisfied is an understatement.

I just got a set of HD Leica binocs, and the box was crushed a bit, but inside it looked unopened. I would do it again.

I have two sets of them

A set or vortex viper 8x32 and Zen Ray 8x43 ed3, both were new as far as I can tell.

I've bought new and open box from Camera Land and you can't tell the difference. Plus, Doug and the guys are helpful and stand by their products!

100%!! I just received an open box Zeiss 8x42 Victory HT pair from CLNY-absolutely new, shipped overnight--I was hunting with them the following day.

CL called right back when good old Citibank tossed my charge out in a routine security check, we changed cards in an instant, and FEDEX had them in my hands before I could blink--great people to deal with!

I have bought numerous "Demo's" and open box items from them and been quite satisfied. Go for it!

For me, the demos are a long, long call for any other supplier to beat.

The products are sold at great prices and perfect condition.

Doug and company have taken customer service, at all levels,to new heights.

I couldn't tell them apart from new on the 4 "Demo" items I've bought from them.

Fear not! Multiple open boxes here and nary a scratch on any of them. You will be happy with your purchase.

I've bought three "demos" (binos and scopes). It appeared that the boxes MAY have been opened but looked and performed as new. I watch their website fairly pretty regularly.

I've bought a number of their demos, and every one has been optically perfect. They are wonderful to deal with.

Several years ago when the new Leica scopes came out I bought one open box after the shot show. I had 2 problems with it: there was deep scratching on the bottom of the bell and the posts of the reticle were separated a lot further than the pics put out by leica.

Cameraland took it right back and I upgraded to a better scope.

Doug runs a clean shop. I've spent far more than I care to mention with Doug...and I've never regretted a penny of it.

Few people get the fact that word of mouth drives business. Cameraland gets the intangible "it". That business is about PEOPLE.

I don't need anything right now...but the first place I look for glass is Doug.

My only comment is that they lost a sale on a pair of Zeiss bino's because they refused to ship to an address other than the billing address of the credit card. Packages are stolen often around here when left on the doorstep and there is no one home for delivery.

I have purchased many items from Doug and been satisfied every time! I always try to purchased demo/open box if I can as I can't tell from new.
