Sounds to me like the guy with the hammer had a suicide wish, which was granted.
You don't want to get shot, do not attack an armed man.

Just trying to pick up the slack Mac, since TRH is scarce these days...
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

Thanks Gents, just wondering how things worked over there..Here's its likely the Bobby responding would not have been armed with a firearm, so would likely have used pepperspray and/or a Tazer.. Hail Britannia.

Just read the report...apparently two officers arrived on scene the first officer drew his service weapon and the second acted as a negotiator. The negotiator said "drop the hammer" and... Bobs your uncle.

The main issue the libs seem to be pushing is that officers wouldn't have to fear for their lives (and therefore would not have to kill people) if they'd simply walk away when people who are up to now good let them know that they are not interested in being arrested. The fact that people only die when they fight with police after or during the commission of another crime seems to be totally irrelevant.

" The question is whether or not the officer REASONABLY feared his life was in danger."
THAT'S the question a Grand Jury has to answer, here in TX.
I don't know about OK.

The libs ain't got nothing on you when it comes to lying to promote an agenda. There are plenty of instances of completely innocent people being killed by cops.

I'll give you that. The situations we're talking about in these news stories, and what the libs are griping about are people being killed while fighting with police during being apprehended or arrested for committing a crime. That is FAR more prevailant than the suggestion you make of "innocent people being killed by cops".

The problem with " feared for his life " is when the badge is hung on a useless vagina.

I've killed a lot of animals, a lot tougher and meaner than any man, with a three pound hammer. My friends love to joke about it. Anybody that is willing to face that down is an idiot.

Just curious, but will the cop be required to justify not using his TASER first? A hammer easily fits the description of deadly weapon. I would be shocked to learn that any L.E. jurisdiction required or suggested the use of less than lethal weapons for an agent facing an attacker with a deadly weapon.

I'm not a cop, But if some nutjob comes after me with a hammer I'd do the same thing the officer did.
I've got enough problems without having a dent in my head.

It really would depend on the circumstances..In this case, *if* the Officer was stood one side of the vehicle and the offender was the other side, there would not be much immediate threat from an impact weapon so a taser (if available) might have been more appropriate.. At the end of the day, the Police should not be using the self- defence/threat to their life clause as a legal loop hole to enable them to use lethal force at the drop of a hat. Putting the facts before a Grand Jury would hold them accountable to ensure that does not happen, and also it would ensure that the whole process is transparent and hopefully beyond reproach.

It's too bad this officer didn't have a computer keyboard to protect himself from a hammer wielding mad man.
