Had some weather in here the last couple of days and knew it would be nice this morning. Went calling. Snuck into the first stand, set up the call and waited. After the first series of rabbit, I caught this guy running into the call. Got on the rifle as he was running in and while swinging with him I barked to stop him. He did and my rifle barked too. The 105 A-Max caused a little issue on his rotator cuff Made my way to a great place where I made my second stand. Call ran it's sequence and nothing came in. I picked up and started back to the truck. Caught a glimpse of a dog heading from the bottom up to where I was set up at about 400 yards. I had my diaphragm call still in my mouth so I gave him a little Hurt Pup to stop him. He was at 250 lasered yards. I dropped my gear and got on the sticks and he kept heading up the draw. More Hurt Pup stopped him to where he was looking my way. Got a nice steady seated sticks rest and held a little over him and touched it off. Didn't hear a popping bag sound but more like a smacking crack. Didn't see him in the scope anymore. He had a 105 grain Facial that removed his lowers and whatever was left of the bullet exited the back of his neck. Terminal Dog Jaw. It was a beautiful morning here.

Semi-Uber. I was hoping to replicate the 5-dog-day I had in the same area a couple of years ago. Forgot to mention that right after I shot the first dog on the stand I glassed around and up on the horizon at 802 was a dog looking in. I put my prone bipod on and got down to dial him up. He didn't want any part of the fun. now that's some good smacking crack..... Not the best kind of crack-smacking, but just about as fun for an old phugg like me...

Don't say that too loud. The .223 for deer guys may bitch. The 105 going 3065 out of the WSSM really puts the hurt on 'em. They go down and that's it. No movement. The second one I shot from sticks was kinda facing me, looking for the hurt pup. Scope was on 8X with a 200 yard zero so I held a little high Looks like the bullet caught him on the point of the lower jaw and simply disintegrated the entire thing, sending shrapnel, teeth and bone through the throat and neck. I shoulda checked around the ground. I usually do just to see what parts were blown off, but I didn't this time.

Awesome shooting and pictures!
I like to do my hunting BEFORE I pull the trigger! There is only one kind of dead, but there are many different kinds of wounded.

I would not be bragging if I shot a standing coyote in the jaw at 250yds and with a solid rest. YMMV.

So you killed two out of three spotted on a bluebird day? Good work done here.

Wow, sure looks like some beautiful calling country. No doubt that 105 is like a hammer. Thanks for the pics.
