Think i am going to grab a Sako for the first time. Found what looks like a good deal on a .338WM. Who made the fiberglass stock for these rifles?

AV's are good rifles. Have had a couple. Rings and bases can get as spendy as you want. I have several sets still sitting around. If you buy the rifle, shoot me a PM. We'll see if we can work something out...

If it's a factory installed fibreglass stock it is a McMillan.

Sako called that model the FibreClass.

The McM on the Sako's are very nice stocks with a slim forend, a slim & open grip & a somewhat curved recoil pad.

On the lighter calibers, they are a bit heavy but just about right on a 338.

I used a 270 to kill lots of stuff & for 10-15 years it was my go-to rifle.

Also had a 338.........here's a pic.

I've always felt that the lug & tang should be bedded & mine are/were & they shoot very, very well, so something you may want to consider later.

I've used Buehler (now out of business) & Conetrol for the most part. Conetrols are not cheap but they are strong & sleek.

The Sako or Optilok mounts are secure but just plain butt ugly, IMO.

Have an A/V Deluxe in 30-06; very nice rifles. S&K polished blue mounts would go nicely:

That's a good deal if it does not have a stock.

Another question. What years were the production run for that model?

Not sure when they began production, maybe 91-92, but were discontinued 1996

Thought so. Thought it was the predecessor to the 75, but wasn't sure. Thanks.
