I have favored the 28 for years especially when out for Grouse and Woodcock. I have more 16's and 20's than 28's but all are fun to get out with and when combined with a good bird dog it's even better. My favorite 28 is a Parker.

16 gauge for sure, though I'm easily seduced by other nice guns with different sized bores.
While I'm not a big Browning fan, the Citori Superlight 16 with 28" barrels is a current love, along with my long time romance with a stock field grade 16 gauge Model 12 w/ 28" barrel and modified choke. Both weigh 6 1/2#. My dogs like them too.

My 16 gauge Foxes are my favorites, then my 16 gauge Smiths, then my 16 gauge Parker, then my Ithaca's. Did I mention I like the 16?

I have two 20 gauge Ultra Featherweight 20 gauges. One is 2 3/4"/25" Mod, the other a 3"/26" with screw in chokes.. The 2 3/4" gets the most use. I'm not all that fond of 3" 20 gauge shells anyway. I own a 12 gauge for those uses.
My first shotgun was a single shot 16 gauge Savage 94. If shells were more available, I would likely use a 16 more than others for grouse and dove.

I would not kid you at all. One is a VHE skeet the other is an upgraded AAHE 2 bbl set. The second set 28 inches choked M/F are from James Purdy. I shoot all SXS's, mostly Parkers but there are a few others. I had a Parker VH 20 completely customized to fit me and what I wanted regarding the engraving. I had a portrait of my little Buddy Gunner done on the floor plate.

I don't think I ever fired more than ounce of shot at anything out of the 16's. Usually it was 3/4 or 7/8 oz. handloads. And then Winchester dropped their AA-like 16ga wads and the hunt for good wads took on a search for the Holy Grail quality. Never shot any loads less than 1oz in in the 16, don't know if any of my Sweet 16's would function with less. I still have 2 bags of AA wads for my 16 use and about 700 AA style 16 ga.(the tapered compression formed hull) hulls .If you have found a replacement wad for these hulls I'd sure appreciate hearing about it. MM, Love the Sweet Sixteen Begian Auto Fives! Please share any pictures that you care to, that is a great shotgun.

I like the 20 gauge. But I have a 28 that I have begun to gain appreciation for as well. I have always wanted a 16 gauge, but tough to find them anymore.

Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!
They're all around the CampFire and everywhere.
