Ever notice how out of the blue -bam model sevens pop up then none for weeks on end it seems.
A 308 and 260 both stainless popped up within days and I bought them both -both shoot great .
I have a hankering for a 243 ---i do .

I bought my son one in .308 many years ago, put it in an HS Precision stock and that little sucker is a tack driver. He likes hunting from a climbing stand and it is absolutely perfect for that.

Boy I would like one in 308 with 18 1/2 inch barrel. Good for walking through the brushy mountains here. Weight and length are a big drawback here.

If they put a little more beef in the barrel and use a stock with some integrity as to being a good foundation and not putting side pressure on the barrel and they will have something that isn't project rifle.
I liked the older ones with wood stocks.

Any idea if Remington is going to be using the same synthetic stock that weighed like 40 oz and made the rifle in factory form the most ass-heavy and unbalanced rifle of all-time? If there was ever a crappier rifle than the SS M7, I'm not aware what it could be. Had one in 308... it was a genuine 6" grouper and Remington, after two trips back to the factory, couldn't get it to shoot either. To their credit, they cut me a full refund check. Of the many 308's I've had, it's the only one that wouldn't shoot. The Model 7, in wood or plastic, is an unbalanced mess IMO. Too muzzle light, thin pencil barrel. It's often marketed as a youth/woman's rifle, but I can't imagine a worse beginning rife for either. I really don't think it does anything well for any category one cares to name. Rant off

Any mention of twist on the 223 offering? I'm sure it will be 1-9". There is hope, they brought the 260 back with an 8 twist SPS but then again, this is Remington. Edit: watch them drop the 8 twist SPS 260 and give ya'll a 9 twist 260 Model 7

The only 7 to interest me was a 7 Saum. I put it in a McM Edge Classic with DNZ mounts and a 6x42 with an M1. At 7lbs 2oz with that package, it's tough to beat.

Rant off Same barrel contour as a MR, just 2" shorter. If you ever had an FS or KS version, then you'd probably like the balance much, much better. Quite similar to a Montana actually, only more between-the-hands feel.

Rant off Had one of the originals that came out the same year as Remington made the 260 a factory offering. Wouldn't shoot and was absolutely an "unbalanced mess". If Rem does indeed get a 700 with a properly twisted 260 barrel in a Mountain Rifle or KS, I would give them another chance as this offering would indicate to me that they have seen the error of their ways. Otherwise, I will just keep building proper rifles using their (corrected through truing) 700 action and skip the headaches associated with their current offerings.

I've had three of the first year 260s from 1997--all three have shot 1" or less, most easily with 120 grain BTips.

They should offer the .358, and leave the .338 to wither.  I've been hoping for Remington to fix QC since the early 90's. Hope the move helps.

350 Remington mag would also be nice I had a 350 in a M7, and it had problems feeding the second round. Nice to carry, not a pure pleasure to shoot.
