Of the two - I'd select Tikka.
What cartridge/caliber?

Tikka all the way.
And it isn't a turd in any way.

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Go Ruger American.

Tikka is the better rifle, the Ruger MIGHT be the better value.

I thought you were going to ask............ Ingwe or Wageslave?
Those who are always shooting off at the mouth usually aren't shooting straight. What do you get when you cross a polar bear with a seal? A polar bear. Did you hear they arrested the devil? Yeah, they got him on possession. www.wvcdl.org

No experience with the Tikka, but my younger brother has shot a PILE of deer with his Savage...of the two it would be my call.

If you like plastic go Tikka if you prefer all metal go Savage. They'll both be accurate.

I would get the Savage. Never had a Tika, but own a few Savages, all shoot very well.

I have looked at RAR, while the stocks on all 3 rifles mentioned, savage, tikka & RAR suck, I think the RAR is the worst out of the three

Tikka T3 Stainless or Savage 16 Weather Warrior. Looking for a beater. I own both. Not embarrassed by it. I have a bunch of rifles. Some are pretty darn nice by many's judgement, most are 700s, 77s, and 70s. I seem to pick up one of my two Tikkas most these days when headed afield. My favorite lately is a T3 Hunter 260 Rem with a take-off platic stock, sporting a coat of Krylon and loaded with 125 partitions over H4831. One hole accuracy. Chit dies.

On a side note, if you want to consider a turd of a different color:
I picked up a Marlin XS7 (stainless) in 243 recently as a loaner/wife/beater gun. It looks and feels cheap as a squirt gun. Turns out that it shoots 85 TSXs, over IMR4064 or Varget, under an inch with boring regularity.
