This is a really nice Lyman 48S rear sight that I bought for a project that I've decided to shelve. Sight is a Lyman 48S, made for Springfield and Newton rifles--it is a perfect match for any Springfield 1903 sporter project. Comes with aperture, box and wrapping paper. This sight has the relatively rare 150 min. elevation slide. The elevation adjustment is frozen, as is the slide-removal mechanism. This is not uncommon with sights of this age and condition. I've unfrozen Lyman 48's with penetrating oil. Just let it soak until it frees up. The box is in fine condition, as can be seen, and it's not common to find boxes in this condition. Price for everything is $125 shipped via USPS priority; payment by check or money order. Thanks. Interested in any trades? I have a ton of gun, reloading & scope stuff I'd let go, if you're interested.
PM me if you're looking for anything in particular.
thanks
Dan

That is one hell of a deal at $125.00 for what I believe is a transition from first to second generation sight.
Unfreezing is easy. Just hit the moving parts with brake cleaner, wait about five minutes, then hit them with WD-40. If still stuck, then warm it up in your oven set on the plate warm setting (about 200 degrees). That will melt the grease.
If it was a Lyman 48M for a Mauser, it would already by mine.
Sincerely,
Chris Bemis
