Headline in the local paper this morning read that the BLM has postponed selling oil/gas leases due to public comments from citizens. One of the reasons stated was "environmental justice". What the fugg is that? Sounds like another buzz word for control to me. It's not something that can be defined, but it sounds really good and fair and right, so it must be worth pursuing. Even if you have to give up a few things it's for the common good.

Liberal catch phrase.
Like... "Saturday Night Special, Assault Rifle, High Capacity Magazine, Ghost Gun", and the list goes on and on....
The denial of public hydrocarbon leases started when Obama took office. He pretty much ended drilling for oil/gas on public lands. Period. And the Gulf, in many instances. No new leases.

always thought environmental justice was when you shot the pigeon that flew over you and left a white spot
or you catch a fish that already has one of your lures in it's mouth
I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Hazardous waste treatment facilities, chemical-intensive processes, contaminated land, and other such sites occur much more frequently in poor areas. Many of these sites had their origins 50 or a hundred years ago; such neighborhoods tend to be and stay poor. The phenomenon is very measurable and has been the subject of much social and 'environmental' study.
The most favorable description of environmental justice is that it recognizes that poor people are not nearly as successful at keeping pollution and risk out of their neighborhoods, and policymakers provide them a political multiplier of sorts.
The least favorable view is that it is a ploy used to obtain news coverage, benefits and political leverage. Since the phrase contains the word "environmental", it is emotionally charged from the gitgo.

It's two things: stealing money from those who earned it and giving it to those who will vote for criminals, and increased opportunity for control of the populace.
I hope the day is not too far off when we can deal with anyone who expounds on such nonsense with extreme prejudice.
We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

"Environmental Justice;" noun. Derived from liberal methodology which uses words with positive implication to achieve a negative result. Environmental justice therefore has nothing to do with either the environment or justice. It refers instead to forcing rational people to surrender to the merest whims of any and all tree-hugging social activists - invariably at great cost and inconvenience to all but the activists.
"Social justice;" noun. See above, for activists using societal factors in place of environmental in their subterfuge.

Talus has it essentially correct, as does Rocky. Industrial land for large projects tends to be cheap. Or, the site is built and the land near the site is bought by workers while the bosses are up on the hill. And we know there's an economic correlation with some races. So, where there's cheap land you find "color." Instant prejudice. As for BLM, I'd bet the "environmental justice" is either Hispanics or Indians, old SWestern Mexicans or religious site sacredness for the Indians.
