Just made it to Casper and am literally staying a stones throw away from the north platt river.. I'm getting the bug again after not fly fishing for 15 years...wonder if a guy could hook one this time of year....

It it's like the streams around here, the surface is pretty much dry matter (ice).

Actually......between the dams stays ice free I hear...and fishing can be really good...don't know if I'm desperate enough to stand on the river bank in this cold weather... It was 48 deg the other day but now in the teens...maybe if it warms up in the high 20s or so. Can't be any worse than fishing steel head in the cold rain

Went down to gray reef today to check it out and it is indeed ice free and several guys fishing..I stopped at the fly shop there and he said yesterday was really good bite for about 2 hrs in the warmest part of the afternoon and expected a similar report for today..I am going to try it out next weekend if the weather holds out..
