Charles, it was very nice sharing a blind with you, too! Glad to see you were successful, after your long drive down!

Thanks Dan for taking the time to set this trip up.
Was a very neat lodge. We all need one.
I think 24 bedrooms, each with it's own bath area, two queen size beds, TV ( was never turned on) and a really nice trophies from Adams lifetime of hunting.
What a meal Roger furnished, Pat and Dan cooked. Couldn't ask for any more.
Fun to meet many who are on this site in person.

Oh yea, we had a lot of beer drinker, not whiskey drinkers.
So there for I came back with two bottles of Texas made whiskey. I think Pat even had some left over. Joel tried real hard but his return home was earlier then expected.

I brought four fifths and a handle of Becky Creek. I think someone else brought a couple, and I wound up bringing back the handle and two fifths. I think other folks brought a variety of other adult beverages, including some clear firewater type stuff. I used it to treat my head injury, when Doc wasn't looking... smirk

I think you have identified sorely missing ingredients.

Sure missed getting to chew the fat with you guys, AND Jim.

Great folks at this get together, and wonderful accommodations, but you guys are like family that I only get to see once a year.

Already looking forward to the next shindig.

When the ostrich got out on the rifle range that should have been seen as a divine sanction and the ostrich summarily shot. smile

The nominal trophy fee on the stritch was $3k. I was tempted to offer them $1k on the last day, but finally talked myself out of it. I did wind wind up yelling at him, once, as he was edging closer to me.

I think Derrick, the ranch manager, has 1st dibbs on the ostrich....unless his wife wants to pull the trigger.

San Antonio for some seminars I believe, Tom. It may be winding down today, though.

Do you have his passport?

The dust has settled a bit here, been working like a slave catching up a bit on the farm, where to start, it was good to see all you guys again and meet some new friends.

Special shout out to Dan and Pat for the put together and cooking, and Bob for showing us all how to dress at a hunting camp, although we'll never be that cool.grin

STX Roger went above and beyond with the shrimp, fish AND drink, my bellies still warm.lol

Enjoyed the cranial 'enlightment' from my 'blind buddy' Tom [tjm], nice hunting and visiting with you Sir, conversation from a true gentleman always does me good. smile

The 24hr campfire continues to attract like minded good folks at these gatherings regardless of the attendees geographical location, it was a sincere pleasure sharing a camp, laughs, drink and eats with all you fine fellas.

He brought several really nice revolvers on this trip, most of them tuned by his & my favorite S&W revolver mechanic, Denny Reichard of Sand Burr Gun Ranch in Rochester, IN. Tom & I have been corresponding here on the 'Fire for several years, and it was a pleasure to finally meet in person.

Yep!!

Derrick told us that he has informed the ranch owner that the first thing he's gonna do when the ranch sells next week/month is kill that damn ostrich. He did actually shoot it with a round of snake-shot on Thursday afternoon, too, as it hassled with several of us down at the fishin' hole...

It was a mean sonofabitch, chased several of us down. It came at me once and I charged back at it and made it back off a step, but then it came on again. I didn't want to have to shoot it, so I beat feet behind some trucks and it forgot about me.
