I skin the face out like that and then when I pull hide off the normal way once I get to the ears I work a screwdriver between cartilage and head and just pull and it does it perfect. I used to cut cartilage when skinning head and then pull it out with pliers but this is faster and easier

Thanks for all the kind comments about the fox.. One ranch always has some, but I don't always get a chance when the fur is good, or else I don't have a small rifle to take the fox.. Worked out this time.
Lots of fine photos and information on this thread.. One of my favorites. Thanks.

Field, I bought this Hornet 20 years ago this year.. Have used it a bunch.. Shot everything from gophers, tree squirrel, grouse, chucks up to turkey & whitetails.. A great little caliber for the woodsloafer or just a casual hike in the hills.

Things sure do change in 20 years. Scratch that, 30+ years damit

Uncovered cat sets and turning ears?

Keep putting up the fur guys, nice job.

Is that New Model Vaquero, or the Old Model?

It is the old model. I had to put those ivory grips on it because I broke so many sets of grips when I threw the gun at the target. The great thing about Rugers, is it's like owning a seven shot revolver. You miss with the six in the cylinder and then you throw the gun for the seventh shot...

I don't think thats a real Ruger at all....some kind of knock-off...

Heres what a real authentic Ruger with genuine simulated ivory grips looks like....

Nope,,,,, handle's all swoopy and it's got sights.
Can't be a real Ruger.

You can tell a real Ruger by the plywood grips.
