Prayers for the family CFT. So sad.
We just had our own bit of sadness though it pales in comparison. My daughters bunny just died. It is hard to watch one of your kids go through it.
What you do today is important, you are trading a day in the rest of your life for it.

Rough day here.
One of my son's buddies took a walk to the convenience store after school yesterday. When he didn't come home after 3 hours, his mom called the sheriff. They found him about 9:00pm. He took a shortcut over the bayou and broke through the ice. Never had a chance.
It breaks my heart. He lives just around the corner. Good kid, respectful, smart, athletic, great parents. Don't know what else to say. His name was Carter. He was 14. I don't know what to say Steve. That is awful. I'm sorry for what you guys are going through and praying for his family and friends. Like others have said...just terrible

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'll pass them along. As parents we try to prepare our kids for the world and something like this happens. There's no rhyme or reason, it just happens. Life is fragile. We see examples of it here on this thread all the time. Hug your kids, don't stop teaching them, and readying them for the life ahead of them...they'll make you proud some day.

Pretty quiet on this thing!!
We had a fun day on the ice today. With tip-ups and jig rods we caught everything but walleyes. Panfish is what we were after and we found em. As well as northerners and plenty of largemouth bass if you can believe it.
April even pulled a big LMB out with a panfish rod. She had fun with that.
I hope all the chickenbuckers had a great weekend!!

We brought the Ice Castle out to DL this weekend. I've only fished tip ups out there before with big sucker decoys and had a HUGE musky on that straightened out my hook. This weekend we took the kids and went for walleye & crappie and ended up limiting out on northern pike, a few nice perch and one nice bass. I will be busy cleaning fish for awhile.
