WOW!! That's hard to imagine. It's also good to know that people still care about the things that aren't manufactured anymore. Steve

Amazing to see all those boxed guns in one place. I have a different perspective though. There is no harm in having open boxes, as long as the contents were viewed, maintained, and returned to their boxes. The idea that the owner has no idea about the condition of the contents of such a fine collection is painful to me. If the rifles inside are rusted POS's, then he has a fine collection of rusted POS's. Hopefully that is not the case. P.S.- if you were buying these, would you pay top dollar for unopened boxes, regardless of the condition of the contents? Can't wrap my tiny brain around that one.

Lucky, this is the interesting part to me. I was setting here thinking if you went to a gun auction and they thru out 70 year old collectors in boxes that were never opened what would happen. I would be in the back thinking what kind of shape are they in but somehow I think I would be watching a bunch of people bidding their fool head off to either see what's inside the box or make sure it never leaves the box.

You do with old ammo that can run in the hundreds a box. I'm guessing there are collectors out there that would pay for sealed rifle boxes, as well.

Happens in the toy train world all the time, some get opened, some don't. I'd be an opener.

Those are special for sure Steve, congrats! I don't think I could leave them unopened though. Too tempting.

Holy smokes. Un-opened Utica's? ************************************************************************ My thought as well. It is almost unbelievable to have unopened rifles made so long ago in Utica, N.Y. !!! Talk about a " serious" collector........! Well done, Steve... Strength & Honor... Ron T.

Those of you that know me, know me. I'd have them opened in a heartbeat and killing deer with them. But THAT'S why I'm a dub.

A little "off topic" but similar:
I have a sealed "Meet the Beatles" monophonic album. Problem is, there were 2 different labels on the record when it was released. One worth more than the other.
Without opening, I don't know which it is....
Opening it would answer the question, but destroy it's value...

The status of what is in the sealed box is simultaneously in pristine condition and also rusted to crap. We have quantum physic's superposition paradox as famously illustrated by Schrodinger's cat. In my opinion, that particular thought experiment would have been much better explained using a Savage '99 in a never opened box than a cat in a box.

Pretty sure of the condition of Schrodingers cat after being sealed in a box for 50 years, not so sure on a 99 though Lee

Maybe those who already have owned more than one sealed box were tempted to open a closed box and know the secret of whats in Pandora's box. The condition of the box should inform the buyer's suspicions. I suspect the rifles may be in pristine condition.
