OK, I have a question with something that just happened. I have the Harbor Freight tumbler with 2 canisters. I just preped some brass and I wanted to clean them. I put 60 cases in each canister, a dash of Lemon Shine, drop of Dawn soap, and water. I let them turn for a couple hours. One canister the brass was shiny, but the other canister the brass was dull.
What gives? I thought I put the same amount of everything in each canister. Why would the one be dull?

are you sure both canisters were turning all the time ? both rated for same amount of weight ? Thats sounds like a big load for the little tumblers I've seen at Harbor freight.

Dump the non-shiny into the shiny tumbler and run without adding a thing so you can isolate the mix or the tumbler. My money is on the tumbler assuming the brass was identical.

I have read to use a 1/4 tsp. max of the Lemishine and then 1 or 2 tablespoons of dish soap. If there are not bubbles after it is done, then you need more soap.
Soap is really what gets all the grime and residue off. The Lemi shine just helps polish it. But, too much Lemi shine is not good either.

Thanks fellas! I ended up buying a Frankford tumbler. I have been wanting one and tired of tumbling small batches of brass at a time Cabelas has them for $169 plus $5 shipping. I had some points and gift card so I got it for $110.

If you want good tools you have to buy good tools. If you buy cheap you get cheap.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

Don't speculate when you don't know, and don't second guess when you do.

My HF tumbler does well with 1tsp of detergent, 1/2tsp of soap, 16oz water, and 1lb of SS pins. I let it run for 2-3hours.
