Ben, it's been a January thaw here as well. I live in town and had to mow the grass last week.

Couple weeks ago I counted 6 or 7 perched 'together'. About 200 yards from the river in cottonwoods. Spread out between several trees, most I've seen in one place.

I'm jealous, snow is a rare commodity around western Colorado this year.

I am sorry and embarrassed ! - I just googled an image (amongst many) that would mock the bleak and barren stereotype of our State.
Tracing this striking photograph back to it's source, due credit is given to the actual photographer:

Matthew Sharp - 'Desolation Road'

You are a good man P Weed - no need for even a bit embarrassment. You posted an excellent photo the place where you live.

To all - I really appreciate all of these posts from your environs - most rewarding to see these scenes. Gives me ideas, and maybe some plans.

This is about a well-elevated rifle shot from my front door.

Where I live and make a living. You've heard of the middle of Nowhere....? This is a heck of a lot farther into the Boonies than that.
