Probably 99 out of 100 hunters don't give a rat's azz about shooting anything out of a .243 that wouldn't perform just fine with a 10 twist.

As long as it will shoot some type of hunting round into a 1" group at 100 yards, I couldn't care less what the twist rate is. Doesn't matter to me if I shoot 80, 90 or 100 grainers. If I'm understanding the argument correctly, a faster twist like 1:9 or 1:8 would stabilize heavier bullets, in the 105-115 grain range. Unless I've missed something, I don't think there are any factory ammo offerings over 100 grains. So the only folks that would get the benefit of the faster twist would be hand loaders. I'm not a hand loader and have no desire to be. Same goes for most of the folks that I know. Not that there is anything wrong with it, I just don't have the time or the patience for it. I would suspect that the majority of hunters are not necessarily rifle loonies like us, and therefore they do not hand load. Just my two cents.

There is no reason not to twist it 1:8" though, because all those factory rounds will still shoot great in that twist. While allowing the hand loaders to run whatever they like.

It sure looks to me like the bolt shroud does not extend to block the left raceway in the rear (to baffle escaping gas). That seems foolish to me.

May have missed it but anyone know the source of their barrels?

Apparently the agreement with the barrel manufacturer precludes their name being shared, though I did hear "air gauged". That makes me think Douglas, but lots of people air gauge their tubes.

Honestly wouldn't give a rip if it shoots and cleans up well.

From a company rep., posted in the custom forum:

"Because of our business arrangement we are precluded from giving additional information but I can tell you that they are a major barrel manufacturer, air gauged and tested to make sure they shoot."

Not bad for the $$$$..........I'd prefer to see the wrist a little higher & the grip opened up a bit too, but it's hard to tell ergos from a pic.

I also prefer to see the barrels on some of the calibers 22" & the weight not more than 6.5 lb, bare.

Hard to buy that over a Kimber Montana for the extra $$$$ though.
