Yesterday I did some longer range shooting. It was drizzling the entire day with only brief periods of no rain but very overcast. One of the rifles is a 5.6x47L with a HD5 5-25 on it. I shot one round at 100 yards to get a zero and then went to a plate I had set up at 540 yards. I had to dial the parallax all the way to infinity to get rid of most of it. The image was never very sharp; definitely inferior to my Bushnell Elite 6500.

We were also shooting a 7WSM with a Vortex 6.5-20 on it and that scope crapped out about halfway through our shooting session!

Biggest disappointment was the Zeiss though. I was thinking of getting one and now I surely won't.

Dennis,

I have one on my LRM and have nothing but positive to say about it. I shot my deer in conditions like we've had the past few days at 600, and it was clear as a bell.

Maybe this one is an aberration.

Never had an issue with my Zeiss in any weather condition. And for what it is worth I love my 6500s also.

We were shooting at 540 yards and he was hitting the 8" gong every shot. We moved to 800 and he missed his first shot. We adjusted and nothing happened, tried and tried- could not get it on that 15.
Went back to 540 with the same dope we used there before and it missed by 3 feet one direction and then the other. No matter what we dialed, it would no longer track. So far with Vortex scopes and long range shooting I am 100% on them failing. Last time it was a PST that was not cheap.

Thanks Dennis

I have several of the Vipers and just picked up a PST. Always curious when I hear the problems with the Vortex scopes how they fail, more for situational awareness.I am sure I will find out myself, but hoping to avoid it.
