Friday eve I decided to try for a doe from a lean up I put on a ridge above a large creek bottom. After being on stand for a while, I heard all kind of commotion in the dry leaves down in the bottom and figured it was pigs. The roar continued for a while, so I decided to try a stalk. I eased through the timber and just as I neared the crest of the ridge, there they were about 30yds out. I waited for a bit and a large sow broke from the herd and started rooting towards me. I waited for her to get to 20 yards, turn broad side, and put an arrow right behind the shoulder. She ran about 15yds and toppled over(center punched the heart). The others flustered a bit and dropped over the crest of the ridge, then went back to rooting. The sow had died so quickly, it didn't bother them much. I cocked the xbow, loaded, and eased toward the herd. Just as I could see over the ridge a boar spotted me and bolted. The others started to follow, but a 120lb sow waited too long. I let an arrow fly and she dropped on the spot(caught her a bit high). The rest of the herd were making tracks by that point. The work really started at that point.
They are at the processor now for chops and hot links. Should be some fine eating.
