elkhuntinguide Campfire Regular Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 1,498	Bob... The Whitetails we hunted were from Springer west to Cimarron... They are mainly along the Ponil River there... We also hunted them in Clayton so I'd guess they came from TX along the river beds... I did some feral hog depredation contracts in Clayton as well... They are moving in from TX using the same river bed systems...

That's really interesting how things have morph'd over in that country. I hunted elk and mule deer in that general region;and clear from Clayton over to Cimmarron. I remember a bar in Cimarron with bullet holes in the ceiling....an historic place of some kind where some guys got shot.....that still there? The 280 Remington is overbore. The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

Those are fine WV deer. 24HCF in its entirety, is solely responsible for why my children do not have college funds, my mortgage isn't paid-off and why I will never retire early enough to enjoy the remainder of my life.

He's not big, but I had a big time! I need to chase a big muley someday soon... I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

However the central part of the state seems to produce big deer as well. If we didn't have a 10week firearm season I have no doubt ms would be a true big buck state.

Those are fine WV deer. In those two hunts we had between 4-6 guys camping for the first three days of the season. We saw around a total of perhaps 8 Deer during two hunts. One of the guys also took a small one. All were taken up high. As you know some of that country will wear on you and it has just about wore me down. laissez les bons temps rouler

As to the mule deer,not all deer hunting is chasing hogs I've shot them that size for meat myself. It's all good. Put in for Colorado or western Wyo for a good tag and have at it!
