I've used them for years off and on for whitetails, a couple mule deer and antelope in .243, .30-30, .270, 7x57, .308, .30-06. Not one bit of trouble. Shoot 'em in the right place and get your knife out.

If your rifle likes them you won't find anything much better.

have had good success in 243, 270. The flat base has usually been more accurate. all have been pass thru on deer with good size exit holes.

I asked before the season and heard nothing but positive responses, so my daughter used the 100gr BTSP Interlock in .243. One shot bang/flop. I have been loading them in .243/6mm and my guns seem to like them. I also picked up some 150 and 165 in .30 cal to try. The price is right on them and they seem to be accurate enough to me.

165gr boat tail IL 308 complete pass through on a white tail 40 or 50 yard adrenaline sprint and piled up. Small exit wound not much blood shot. Only a sample of 1 so take it for what its worth I normally have just used them for plinking.

Older supply of .30-06, 180 Light Magnums w/inter bonds. My experience is like Pahntr's. They usually work. I am almost out but on a lot of deer and coyote, they have all worked except one. One blew up, but slowed a mule deer enough to hit him again. The first bullet fragmented on bone. Only failure on maybe thirty or so head. My rifle shoots them at about an inch and an eighth. Plenty good for hunting. I will try Superformance Loaded with inter bonds when the last are gone.

Jack,

Interbonds and Interlocks are two very different bullets. Interbonds are bonded and Interlocks are cup/core. My experience with Interbonds is very good, taking elk and bears with 165 30 caliber and 225 338 caliber. Only caught one of these in an elk that the bullet traveled lengthwise from shoulder to off-side hip. Weighed 140 of the original 165 grains and was a perfect mushroom.

I have some doubt that the bullet you experienced failure with was an interbond. Maybe an Interlock at very high velocity? Also as a piece of information, SSTs have the red tip like an Interbond, but are basically a Interlock.

I've killed 4-5 deer with 150 gr Interlocks from my 20" barrel 30-06 in the past 3-4 years. I've shot as close as 50 feet to 125 yards or so. They work as described. The MV of my loads is ~ 2850 ft/sec. A 24" barrel 30-06 likely could reach close to 3000 ft/sec with a 150. I've never ran them that fast so can't comment on that particular velocity level.

Gotta go with the flow. I use 150 grain sprire points in my 270. They are very accurate and usually give two holes for a blood trail altho I have never had to do any trailing. I like sure thing shots.

I have only used 165gr Hornady Flat Based Interlocks out of my 30-06s and on deer only (WTs in NC and WV). I have no desire to use anything else. Accurate, relatively inexpensive, kills quick without a hubcap sized exit wound. Have used 150s out of my 308 and recovered one. Looked like a bullet advertisement.

My guess is you could use a 30-06 with the Interlock weight of your choice and kill deer the rest of your life and be supremely satisfied.
Find one that your rifle shoots accurately (which shouldn't be too difficult) and head to the woods with confidence.

I have a sample size of one with a 150 grain Interlock from a .30/06. It was bang-flop. The buck is mounted and hanging on the wall in there. I only changed because I didn't reload back then and couldn't find the factory load I shot the next season. I know you can't say much from a sample size of one, but I have I have every intention of laying back a good supply of them for future use.
