Anybody out there use these bullets thru a fast twist barrel? What kind of results in terms of accuracy did you get (assuming they made it to the target!)?

I used to use some of these years ago in some 1-12" twist .223 bolt guns and had great luck with them. I've shot some lighter match bullets (52-55gr I think) in the 1-7" w/o any distinct problems but I'm a little worried about whether these will make it to the target w/ the soft skin in a fast twist...

Thanks,

Monte

I use them in my Savage with either a 1 in 9 or 1 in 8 twist (I don't remember exactly which it is) and they group very well in either 20 or 24 inch barrels. ( I have shot them in both lengths in Savages.)

By the way, my brother, Greg, works for USF&W in Wenatchee.

Hi Monte

Usual response, being they are tnt they might give up on ya. One plus to a GOOD 7 twist would be hand lapped would help.

OTOH I have a 7 twist Krieger, that would torch old 64 grain bergers. I have a brand new box of 64s to test for them as they beefed it up a bit, but have not gotten around to moly coating them yet.

Of course a 7 won't toast 52/53 good bullets. It can also though, toast the sierra 60 gr flat base HPs that I love to use for practice if I"m out of 68 Hornady culls.

Probably only way to tell is to shoot.

Best, Jeff

I have both a 1-8" and 1-9". The 1-8 I finally got to shoot with 748. Both uppers shoot the tnt good at 100 with TAC but look like a shot gun at 200. If I push the tnt to hard in the 1-8, they don't make it down range far.
