So not to hijack the earlier posts on what you got your spouse I started this to gather info for a future hunt (I did a short post there).
Being V-day week and having the discussion that at 60 years old how many good hunting years do I have left (father and both older brothers passed away at 45/55/57). My wife's surprise for me was money to book my once in a lifetime hunt as long I keep it under $10k... I normally hunt Texas one year and Colorado next and have a great time for under $2k so what can I get for 10k? Time to make my bucket list and see what I can do with that amount..I know a monster moose is out of the question, not interested in a Grizzly but a Alaskan Black Bear \ coastal blacktail hunt would do..

OW, I would think a BB/Sitka Deer hunt based off a boat would be a blast! And you could probably fish, etc. when not hunting.
You could also prob do an African Safari for $10K and trust me when I say you will cherish the memories the rest of your life!
Good luck with whatever you do/wherever you go!
Oh, and know we will expect pictures and a report!

Check out this website. We hunted with them back in 2008. Don't get crazy with taxidermy, and easy under $10K. As Akbob5 said, the memories will last you the rest of your life. www.cruisersafaris.com/maddog

I think it would be hard to stay under $10k after all of the expenses, but I agree Afica is a lifetime deal. I think you would be close to $3k for airfare, gun permits, shots, visa, passport if you don't have one, etc. And if you are going that far, you don't want to then scrimp on the experience just to hold to an arbitrary budget.

Yep..
10k wouldn't touch anything in Alaska except caribou or black bear...and then just barely.

ingwe; Top of the morning to you sir, hopefully this still and so far sunny Saturday finds you and yours well. I'll chuck in another vote for Africa based upon hunt reports from a co-worker who went there recently with his father. Although it might be counter intuitive to have me state this, personally I have a tough time wrapping my head around what people are willing to pay to come to our part of BC and compete with us locals - especially so after the last few winters we've had. Africa is something one remembers forever - it was for me for sure anyway ingwe. All the best to you and yours this weekend sir. Dwayne

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

I'd go hunting for Mustangs
there used to be a place in Vegas called the Mustang ranch
after 5K you'd be worn to a frazzle and happy with a lifetime of memories and still have 5K left to boot!
leave the camera at home though (grin)
jk, hope you have a blast whatever you end up doing.

I would look to a BC elk/moose combo. Would be close $$ wise. Give Wade Derby (Crosshair Consulting) a jingle and see what he can do. Though I have not done Alaska, that's next year, IME a BC wilderness hunt stomps an African plains game hunt.

South Africa and bring nothing home except pictures and you will get you 10 days and 9 or 10 Animals
I did it with my wife in 2014 and kept a detailed cost list
Africa does have hidden not discussed cost but I know better now

Oh, and know we will expect pictures and a report! Good advice. A trip to Namibia is do-able for that, and it would be something different.
