Anyone load for the 350 Remington mag? My buddy has one that he is taking to Africa this summer and has already bought his bullets and brass etc. He is determined to take 250 grain Swift A-frames. Suggestion on powder and starting point for this combo? Any experience with this bullet?

I had one for a while. I shot the 225 grain partitions. 4320 was my powder of choice.

The only 250's I have put through mine have been Hornady's so I cannot comment on the Swift other than to say, you do not need a premium bullet when muzzle velocities are only 24-2600fps max.

In fact, I would go as far as saying that a standard cup and core will likely perform better than a hard premium at these velocities.

As far as powders go, there are a lot that will work but I've found Win 748 to give the best velocity and accuracy out of my rifle with the Hornady 250's......However, if I were to take this load to Africa I would want to work it up in similar temps that will be encountered there, Win 748 is not the most temp stable....

Maybe consider the Nosler data for the 350 Remington Magnum -

http://www.nosler.com/nosler-load-data/350-remington-magnum/

I load Woodleigh 310gr bullets and get a muzzle velocity of 2350 fps at near maximum pressure using W748. My 350 RM is built on a Zastava long magnum action with a 24" barrel (1-in-12" twist rate). Cartridge OAL is 3.25" (case capacity isn't taken up by this heavy long bullet) cool -

I found 4895 to be a most ideal powder in my 375-350 (same case, necked up). You can probably go a bit slower in the smaller bore, but 4895 - and the H version would probably be the way to go for temp reasons- gives the best speeds in Hodgdon's data. In the larger bore of my rifle, I've measured single digit variation in shot-to-shot speeds so the burn must be close to ideal.

Varget and RL15 are two of the perfect powders for the 350 RM.

My favorite is Varget.

All I ever ran in my 22" bbl'd 350 was 250's... load to 2,500 and rock on.

Good stuff. TAC was recommended too.

Haven't tried the Swift bullet. My Model 600 is at its best with 250 Noslers and Benchmark (start at 50 gn or less). Reloader 15 made good groups at around 2200 fps but opened up to 1.7" at 2400 fps. 8208 gave 1.5" groups at 2400 fps.

Reloader 15 was excellent with 250 Hornady RN.

Reloader 15, TAC and 8208 all gave 1" groups with 225 Noslers.
