I want to load up some 52 Grain A-Max bullets for my grandson who will bringing his Weatherby S1 Vanguard 223 with him and will only be here for a weekend. So I won't have time to do normal load work up and seating depth checking so I wondered if anyone could give what they would consider a safe COAL for his rifle or is this something that would just be impossible. Thanks for any information or thoughts.

Hornady's data shows them at 2.23", and this length would be highly unlikely to get you in trouble with a mass production SAAMI compliant chamber. Not a bad way to go if you're "working blind."
