They also played quite a bit in a old dance hall in Stamford, TX called the Stagecoach Inn.
If you have a chance, buy Asleep At The Wheel's "Bob Wills Tribute Album"
It's got a killer version of "Big Balls in Cowtown" featuring George Straight and Johhny Gimble, who was one of the original TexasPlayboys. It's one of the best versions of that song that I've ever heard, and a great Album to boot. Here it is: http://youtu.be/FQXlVT0mmkI [video:yahoo]http://youtu.be/FQXlVT0mmkI[/video]

Yeah. I dunno where Bill was talking about. We had the conversation ever bit of 20 years ago when my boys were little. We were going to feed, building fence or something. boys started singing the song and Bill started telling them everything he knew about it.

Best country song- Townes Van Zandt's "Poncho and Lefty". Made famous by Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson. Though Emmylou Harris covered it first and did a beautiful job as well
Ok, I should probably keep my opinion to myself, since I am not much of a country fan. However, I am a huge Townes Van Zandt fan. And while LostHighway is right on about Pancho and Lefty, I actually prefer the version by Freddy Fender.
Try it - you might like it.
Oh, and +1 for George Jones "He stopped Lovin Her Today"
Dunno about the best, but this one is certainly the saddest!
A real tear jerker! I remember dad and my uncles singing it on the porch with their guitars a playin'
