If it's under $700, buy it.

A factory marlin lever gun in .356 will be stamped 336 ER

[Linked Image]

Even a shooter grade 336 ER will fetch around $500. A real clean one will bring over a grand.

This one turned out to be a converted .35 Rem, and I passed on it.

Was there a problem with the conversion or were you looking for an original?

I didn't understand a word you said, but whatever it was I'm right there with you.

The problem was the "unknown". If I'm going to have a conversion, it will be me deciding who does it.
BTW, I'd love to have an original!

Teeder,

Out of curiosity, what were they asking for it? Some of us are cheap and like shooters <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

$325 - $350.00

I can't remember exactly, it's long gone.

It was cheap enough, but I didn't want to take the chance with not knowing who did the conversion. Some things are more important than getting a good deal.
Also, no garantee it was a shooter.
A friend had an original 336ER that wouldn't shoot anything worth a crap. Probably the only Marlin we couldn't get to shoot well.
