Guys, I need a little help. I found a Rem 700 Classic in 35 Whelen that has a replaced recoil pad and open sights removed. Has a cheap scope that would have to be replaced. Any idea of what a fair price would be. Very clean with no scratches and the bore looks great. Guy says it was fired less than 50 times. Basically a safe queen.

Thanks!!!!

The rifle is not original, does not have the box and papers and the Classics were nothing special, usually having very plain wood. IMHO way overrated compared to the limited production 700 in 35 W that was a sharp gun.

I had a Classic in 300 H&H. It was as plain as a fence post, the barrel was too short (24") so I sold the barrel, pot metal bottom metal and the stock and had it made into a 400 H&H in the Rigby style. I paid $700 for the 300 H&H ANIB with all tags and papers. This 35 sounds like a $400 rifle in todays market.

When you can buy a Husky CRF large ring Mauser for $600 in 9.3x62 well.........

If ypu are wanting a hunting rifle in 35 Whelen at a fair affordable price, I am considering selling mine. It is a cerrakoted and glass stock Remmy Model 7600 in 35 Whelen. Price can be very low to mderate dependung upon whether you would want the (very good) glass that is on it and the dies, ammo, brass, bullets etc. as a part of a package.

FWIW, I LUV to barter and horse trade, too!

Surprsingly to me, this darned thing shoots tiny enough groups to make most bolt actions hang thier heads in embarrassment smile

That classic series is very nice for the Whelen. The balance of the 22 inch barrel is better inmy opinion than the 24 inch barrel of the newer CDL rifles.

Thanks for the offer. I actually found exactly what I was looking for after I passed on the 35 Whelen. I may still look into that cartridge some day though.
