Just bought a Weatherby VG S1 270Win. off GB. I'm hunting woods in Tennessee. I'm looking at the Leupold FXII would you put the 4X or 6X on it.

6x36 if you are set on an FX-II are far as 4x's go I prefer the Weaver.

IIRC there's 7' FOV difference between the 4X & 6X @ 100yds.

I don't know about numbers, I only know what works. I find the 6x also helps more to find those clear paths through the brush to send a bullet.

Yep.

Closest I've killed a big game animal with 6x was a running boar (and a big one too) at 10 yards, shot through the shoulders.

Having both the Loopy 4x33 and 6x42, I'd go the 4x route for woods hunting. We're talking 98% of shots under 100 yds here.

Seeing the small limbs is the biggest reason I prefer the 6x42. I use and like both the 4x and 6x. My order of preference is 6x42, 4x33, then 6x36.

Yeah, I much prefer 6x too.

Still have 4x scopes on some rifles, either because of tradition or because the rifle is normally used to shoot animals much larger than deer. Haven't felt all that handicapped with 4x for most hunting, having taken deer-sized animals out to around 400 yards, but still prefer 6x scopes for most rifles of .30 caliber on down. They're brighter in dim conditions, reveal noticeably more detail, and so far I haven't encountered the infamous "scope full of hair," even on some very close-range shots. (If I ever did, it would have to at closer than 30 feet, where I can kill a deer without any sights.)

I like the Weaver K4 Classic as well, but the warranty is a bit lacking compared to Leupold. Not had a problem yet with the ones I've owned.

Has anyone used the Weaver K6s?
