Sergeant York
Das Boot
Master and Commander, Far Side of the World
Bridge over River Kwai
The Bridges at Toko Ri
Midway

Just some of my favorites off the top of my head...what good one's did I miss?

That's a good list but I would add Zulu, the Green Berets, the Guns of Naveron, and Where Eagles Dare. Another good one one, but expensive and hard to find is Stalingrad.

While not my absolute favorite, Too Young The Hero is a great movie.

Another vote for Das Boot

One no one has mentioned, is Soldier of Orange, with a very young Rutger Hauer. Very well done epic, and tells the story from the Dutch perspective in WWII.

And another for Das Boot and Full Metal Jacket.
Platoon, The Deer Hunter and We Were Soldiers are good.
No one mentioned Apocalypse Now?
