When I was a little kid, about 60 years ago, I spent many days with this rifle in my hand wandering around my Grandfathers 160 acres. The rifle belonged to my brother Don, but was in possession of my brother Mike who passed away about 10 years ago. Somehow Mike's son gained possession of the rifle and Don finally got it back. To say he is pissed about this would be an understatement. He brought the rifle over today and asked me if I thought I might be able to fix it. I can make it functional, but it won't ever be fixed. Sorry, I turned these pictures correctly in PB. The nephew isn't a kid either. He's in his 40's.

40 is not too old to take an a$$ whipping.

And still not old enough to know NOT to put the stock on upside down.

id get ahold of a good stock maker, one might have an old piece of wood layin around that they could make a good match

I think Boyds sells them, or at least they used to.

fix it, love it , hunt it.

I'm mad for you, Ken. I think with it's family history, I would find a stock maker that could make me a new handle.

Just lowered the comb and added a pistol grip is all.

Kend, you can find vintage wood for the 1890/06 on ebay quite often. you can probably find the bolt slide arm screw at gunpartscorp.com I collect and restore 1890's and parts are plentiful. looks like the tangs have been damaged too. if you try to straighten them just use a brass hammer. what cartridge is it?

Whenever you fix the stock, beat the nephew with the broken part until it's tooth picks.

Some people just don't appreciate family heirlooms. Things I have that were my grandparents or great grandparents are taken care of.

When the "wtf'ing" phase is over, think would go the route deerstalker mentioned, and get on with enjoying it again, don't look back.

Kend, I sure hate to see you Grandpa's old rifle messed up like that. Sure hope you can get it back together.

I believe I've got one just like it that my father bought in Denver, CO., sometime just after WWII. He told me he gave $10 for it at a pawn shop. Little rifle use to be pretty accurate and may still be, but I havent shot it in 40 yrs or so.
