Perusing gunbroker website, I'm seeing Winchester black talon factory ammo (pre failsafe namechange) going for "buy it now" prices of $80-$100 for calibers 30-06/308 - 338 Win mag, per box of 20. If memory serves, they renamed the black talon to failsafe in the mid 90's, obviously making this ammo around 20 years old. Not that its age has much to due with its reliability since the primers are sealed.

Wondering if $90 per box is really the market value, or if these sellers are just looking for a sucker?

I don't know if the sellers on GB are actually getting these prices, but if they are, I am starting to view my stockpile as "investment grade".

Do it today. Tomorrow there may be a law against it.

You can see what the sellers on GB are actually getting.

Occasionally I still run across both bullets and loaded ammo at modest prices, and I leave them, as apparently most everybody else does.
With TTSX's, Etips, AccuBonds & Partitions, the Black Talons are relics. Interesting, but still relics.
Anyone paying 90 bucks for a box of these, in standard calibers, is not showing much wisdom.

I think they are damned good bullets, performance wise. Problem is, they are not loaded to my specs. Nor is any factory CF ammo....
