Just got a CZ 17 hmr 20' heavy barrel and i'm looking for good scope for under $350. I mounted an older Nikon Monarch 3x9x40, but I was thinking it would do better to go 4x12. What do you all think about AO and fine cross hairs or dot?

Natchez has some Weaver V16s on sale for $210, but they're currently out of stock on backorder.
These are 4-16x42AO with a fine cross-hair, NSS part # WE849409.
I have several of these scopes in service and they have worked well for me.

I used both a 10x and 12x Leupold on mine for prairie dog shooting and found them to work fine with standard duplex reticles. Used ones of both can be had for less than $350.

I ran a 3-9x Burris with Ballistic Plex on my CZ for a long time, and found the extra aiming points handy. Never really felt the need for more magnification, but then I often use less than other shooters.
Right now its has a 3-12x Cabela's Pine Ridge, a cheap "turret" scope but it was hanging around loose and I figured it would work OK on a rimfire. So far it has. Dunno if they even offer it anymore.

I have the Burris Fullfield E1 4.5-14x42 on mine.
The reticle when sighted in at 100 yds gives me holdovers at 150, 200 and 250. Seems like a real good fit for a 17 HMR.
I really like the high power when I'm shooting paper.
You can pick them up for $350.

I have a Minox 3-15 on mine and it works fine but looks a little large for the rifle. For the rimfire distances I never really need above 12 power. I'd suggest something 4-12x40 that is more compact, a VX1 would probably be ideal.
I'm not planning on changing anytime soon, zapping squirrels at 185 yards off a rock with no fear of ricochet is pretty darn useful in my neighborhood.
