... and the Custer and Little Bighorn items plus the Henrys, '66's and '73's caught my eye. Something for everybody. What an auction.

Call me a philistine if you will, but I didn't drool. Sure, some nice works of art there, and I can appreciate the work that went into creating them, I also appreciate their history. To me, a rifle or handgun is a tool to be used, not something to display for its beauty. I would have no business owning any of these fine pieces, because I couldn't bring myself to use them in the field. But, it's nice to know they are out there

I used to shoot hogs with a 1962 Model 70 Winchester .458 Mag. It was a work of art, and belonged to a Jacksonville Doctor who took it on several African trips. Still, it was a great North Florida hog rifle.

That was really fun to look at. Thank you for posting! (But hardly a useful gun in the lot.)

Quite a collection. I can admire the workmanship but have absolutely no use for an engraved firearm.

Beautiful pieces of art. I can see me now strolling through my local Walmart with Elmer's triple lock on my hip. Ya, that's right, I'm bad! And 99% of them would not have a clue, but I'd be stylin!

That was really fun to look at. Thank you for posting! (But hardly a useful gun in the lot.) I can think of several uses for the original Sharps 1874, the 1877, any number of the double rifles AND that gorgeous Wesley Richards 12 gauge SxS. Oh, and the .338WM. Ed

I had to look that up. " a person who is indifferent to culture and the arts" I reckon that fits me pretty well. I don't hold nuthin against those afflicted or nuthin though.

Those single shots are something special. Especially the original 1877 Sharps. There were only a few dozen made and I bet few survived.
That early Ruger #1 would be awful sweet to hold...
The 5" early S&W .44 mag is also a rare, but useful bird.
