I was too. The gentleman had little knowledge of this particular revolver.

I might run some standard 357 through it this weekend just to whet the whistle

Understand. FYI, I have a boatload of uncleaned brass. Probably a lot of .357 and .38, too.

I believe the flame cutting story was ammo specific or load/powder specific. I don't believe it was one of those 'any thing you shoot' or broad based things.

I believe they made some long guns in 357MAX for a while too.

I think it would serve you well to get the full/accurate story on that issue. I don't think its as bad as one might think.

The flame cutting "story" was found to be caused by folks zinging 125 and 158 gr bullets with the slow ball powders. Use 4227 and 180's, which frankly are more appropriate for the round, and all will be fine.

Exactly. I shoot silhouette with guys who have put tens of thousands of rounds through their Ruger Max's and the guns are still going strong. To a man they use H4227 and 180-200gr bullets.
