I am planning on carrying my 5" S&W 610 occasionally and was wandering if anyone else carries an N frame size gun for daily carry?

That's a huge chunk of steel. Weight and bulk are going to make CCW very difficult.

Now, how does it shoot?

I have and still sometimes do like when I was on vacation in Idaho this last two years, but carry a 4" N-frame.

Usually carry a 57 4" or a 657 4" Mountain gun. Only 3 oz. difference in weight but the MG has a round butt and with a set of compact grips is a little easier to hide than a square butt.

Sometimes I just carry it in a standard OWB holster like a DeSantis Speed Scabbard and other times just tucked into the waistband behind the offside hip butt forward...

After a few days didn't even notice the weight...

It shoots extremely well with both .40 and 10mm. The .40s were a little low but grouped well. It really likes the Doubletap 220 gr WFN ammo and the cheap 180 gr Privi Partisan stuff. I ca4ied a 5 inch Model 25 full lug .45 Colt in a Simply Rugged Sourdough for a year with no problem. The 610 will be heavier with the smaller holes but would be OK. I will use the same holster plus one from Lobo Gun leather.

I carry this 629 "daily" in a hip holster along with 12 extra rounds for 10-12 days at a time in the Bob Marshall. A stiff belt helps a lot.

I carry a 310 Nightguard (2.75") on occasion in a Simply Rugged holster. Not my normal carry but it works well with a jacket or flannel shirt to cover.

I carried a S&W 325 Night Guard in a VMII for a couple of months. It was pretty comfortable and concealable that way but carrying the reloads was cumbersome and problematic and caused me to send everything down the road.

Been carrying my 329PD 4 inch 44 Magnum quite a bit lately. Its light weight are easier on my back and leg joints when my pain in those areas is high. At 23 ounces, it is easy to carry from a weight standpoint and in a pancake holster I find it to conceal just fine with the same light cover garments I use when carrying the full size 1911 in 10mm that is my usual EDC gun.

When hunting or in the woods I carry my S&W 357PD (41 Magnum) 4" I really like the lite weight. I have also taken it along when camping or traveling in the truck. I would carry it, but it is rather large to try and conceal in warmer weather. Cold weather not so much of an issue.

I used to carry my 4" SS GP100 OWB, under shirt or coat. If part or all it showed, it showed.

I had a M27 but with an 8" barrel active carry was just out of the question.

I still carry a 4" 1911 OWB around here and it's open carry when I take off my coat. But up here in NH no body has ever said a thing about it. A few medical facilities have those 'No Gun' stickers and I try to honor those idiots. But the restaurants, supermarkets & banks don't have them and there's never an issue. My personal bank consulted with me when the topic of those stickers came up and they don't have them.

In fact the mom/pop breakfast/lunch place I usually go to has told me they *like* it when I'm in there.

Concealed carry? No, as I do not concealed carry. I do carry an old 4 5/8" Ruger Flattop 44 mag when I am hiking around the place in Idaho. Here is my youngest son carrying it. I had a bit heavier 475 Linebaugh Bisley, easily carried, on the trip.

Full size frame or medium frame with short barrel is no problem. 1911s are pretty easy to carry iwb since they are so slim, but the lightweight ones are better. Glock 23 if you like plastic carry well also with right holster etc.

I currently carry a full size 10mm 1911 and it will remain my primary daily carry gun until Sig comes out with a commander length 10mm 1911. When Clements completes my GP100 10mm conversion it will be put in the rotation. I have carried a 5 inch Model 25 before and even a SAA 4 3/4 inch .45 Colt some for CCW. I was just wandering if anyone else likes full size guns.

Occasionally carry a S&W 66 2.5 barrel, but not often. Usually concealed carry a 360 Airweight, an XDs, or a Combat Commander, but don't feel the need 'round here much.

In the bush, it's the 66, a 4" 19, a 4" 629 or a 4" 500.
