I've had this gun for few years now and it has proven itself in the field an at the range. For anyone that know the Marlin bolt guns, they are not fancy but seem to have the uncanny ability to shoot itty bitty groups. I killed more than a few deer and thought I would scratch an itch for a custom camo/cerakote job on this rifle. It started out looking like this, a few weeks ago I decided to send it to Dan at Twin State Hydrographics for a work over. And this is how it looks now, Dan first blasted the gun with aluminum oxide, coated it with cerakote, dipped the barreled action and stock in Natural Gear Camo, then clear coated it with a duracoat product. I can't wait to get it back home, reassemble it, and mount the new scope in my cerakoted rings.

The Marlin bolt guns are vastly underrated. Now it looks as good as it shoots.

That sure is nice looking. no floor plate on the Marlin X guns. But Dan did the magazine box, sling studs, action screws, rings, bases, in cerakote.

Where the heck you been, dmsbandit? Been busy, and the 'fire site has been causing me issues at work and on home computer. Keeps kicking me off and requiring me to log in again and again.

Very nice. I've been a Natural Gear fan for a while now. It looks even better on your rifle than it does stretched over my old, fat, ass.
What fresh Hell is this?

Well I got the gun back from Dan at Twin State Hydrographics, and it looks great. I assembled the gun and added the new scope to it and now all I need is some critter to shoot with it. LOL. I now have a weatherproof gun that looks like no other gun you can buy off the shelf. It will be a pleasure to hunt with it once again this fall.

dms, that is real slick looking. I've left mine stock but did drop the cash to put Leupold Mk 4 10x42 LR on it. They shoot that well. So well that I've got a ss one on order right now in 7-08. Should be in next week. Really nice finish. Magnum Man

dms, looks real good. I do believe I would flip that rear base around and get the rear ring back a little. Would look a bit more even, AND get the ring pressure away from the scope internals by a half inch or so. John

My new XS-7 ss in 7-08 showed up the other day. Picked it up today. Didn't waste any time mounting an old but reliable 6x Burris with Weaver rings on the factory rail base. Ran a few patches thru the barrel to remove the packing oil and bore sighted it. Lot of $30+ plus a box ammo locally but I found some Hornady Whitetail ammo with my favorite 7 mm bullet the 139 gr Horn SP for $23.99 a box. I had it zeroed at 50 yds by the 2nd 3 shot group. The last 3 3 shot groups were less than a 1/2" at 50 yds the gun is a shooter. It will take less than $10 to rattle can paint the black stock. Seems to me for $338 out the door it was a fine buy for an all weather gun. The Marlins are clearing out fast ,you guys need to pick up one for your selves. Magnum Man
