july is the most expensive month, generally. I went in july both times because of scheduling necessity. generally, waiting only sees the ticket go up. check in the middle of the week for best prices and check each different day of departure and return for the best price. Delta site has a chart where you can see a date range of price beginning so many days before and after your preferred date. You can sometimes save 3 or 4 hundred just by shifting the trip a day or two. (the price for an extra impala).
if you can get july for under $2k, then book it. in September, the rates are much, much better.

Before June you can get over there much cheaper. I posted this on another thread, but Round trip from Dallas to J'Burg for end of April 2015 set me back $967.

Thanks again guys. We are pretty much locked in on hunting dates at this point but we do plan on being there for a month, so we do have some flexibility.

I paid $2400 last summer. I booked 11 months out because it was my first trip, etc... About 90 days before I left, I could have got the same ticket for 600 less, That's 600 towards trophy fees!!! BUT I got a window seat for the long flight over, Booked through Travel Express
And these zombies line up and eat from the media’s trough

Thanks for all the responses. I have made my flight arrangements and will get me and the wifey to JNB and back for a little more than $2000 a seat. Going Cleveland to Atlanta to Joburg.
Thanks again. Don

I suggest loose fitting shoes, as much bottled water and snacks as you can fit in carry on and a surgical mask for when they spray insecticide. Have fun and shoot straight.

If you fly Delta, try to get "Coach Comfort" on the Bulkhead. I think its around $150 extra.

On return trip with SAA they sprayed the cabin, with us in it, during fuel stop in Darfur. Not sure if Delta does it.
