Agreed. This list is suspect. Try Kiplingers, Best States to Retire in. They measure the areas of concern that many of us who are retired use. Cost of living, tax's, housing costs and recreation. While Wyoming is also one of the best states to live in with Kiplingers, so is Arkansas, Mississippi and Georgia. Crime is bad in almost every state with large cities, so don't retire in those cities.

Crime is bad in almost every state with large cities, so don't retire in those cities. One thing that the number crunchers who write these lists never consider is access to hunting and outdoor life. Another is political philosophy and personal freedom which is definitely more noticeable in some states than others. They do rate taxes, which is good.
