A small town liquor store not far from the twin cities has a sign by the cash register. It states "We wait on customers, not cell phones". Never a line at the cash register.....

Rude behavior is just that, rude. Doesn't matter if someone is talking to a phone, a pig, someone sitting at the table, or just being a dumbazz.
Though old people and phones do give me a chuckle. They're always grumpy about texting, talking, or whatever.
I remember when we first got call waiting years ago. Pop didn't quite get it at first. He'd get all pissed when another call was coming in and he was on the phone. If he managed to click over, he'd start chewing whose ever azz for interrupting his phone call.
Still cracks me up.

I'd rather have a bad day hunting than a good day working!

I see several businesses now with signs posted at their counters encouraging folks to put their phones away. Cookie used to work a counter and was amazed that folks at the front of the line would answer and engage in conversation while the clerk and those behind simply waited.
Recently I was in a meeting where I would have thought all would have been seriously engaged. One lady ran both her phone and pad throughout the entire meeting. I have no idea why she was there, but had she been an employee of mine, she would have been excused.
The now generation seems to think it's acceptable now to make ones smart whatever the highest priority in life. Sad
