I have a 6mm Super LR with a S/S Surgeon RSR action in a McMillion A5 stock with a S/S Bartlien 30" heavy barrel and DBM. It's toped with A NightForce NXS ZeroStop 5.5x22x56.with illuminated reticle. The first load I shot in it was 43g of H4350 at 3025 FPS and that shot very fine. So I backed the charge down 41.5 to fire form 150 cases and I was completely surprised by the accuracy of these loads so I finished them off on some prairie dogs. I even had a chance to fire off a few at a 1000 yard range again with surpising accuarcy. So now I an ready to seriously work up some loads and I was just wondering what you guys who might be shooting this round think. Rig weights in at around 20 pounds [img:right] [/img]

Looks like my 6mm Remington. Been shooting 105 AMAX with IMR 4350 And getting 2950....I just bedded the rifle so I'm kind of anxious to see if it improved any.
I'm running a NF RR 3.5-15-56 on top. I haven't been able to find any H4350 locally so I've been using what I've got available to me.

Why this cartridge over a 6mm Remington?
Nice looking rifle BTW.

Why this cartridge over a 6mm Remington?
Nice looking rifle BTW. It's basically a .243Win but with 30 degree shoulder and longer neck which cancels out the ugly. In theory it's a better setup for shooting today's new long bullets in a short action than the 6Rem, and you can use .243 Lapua brass if you want. The .243AI will do the same thing, but has a shorter neck and 40 degree shoulder. The 30 degree shoulder and longer neck is something several of today's "accurate" cartridges share, and might feed better than the .243AI, but certainly no better than the old 6Rem does. Mostly minutiae, but that's what gun nuts live for. The 6Creedmoor is in the same class with slightly less capacity but even more magazine space for long bullets. Clear as mud?

Thanks for the very detailed reply. I can see where it might feed better than the 6mm Remington out of AI mags.
That said, outside of competition where 10 or 20 round box mags may be a substantial advantage, I think I'd just stick with a 6mm Remington. Of course I built mine on a long action.
85 grain Sierra bthp game kings are averaging 3430. Brutally effective on rock chucks, coyotes and mule deer.
I have some 105 grain Amax and Berger VLDs that I need to play with for longer range. Hoping they shoot as well as the Sierras.
I've considered AI ing the 6 Remington, but as it is, it shoots so well, I just don't want to mess with it.

Hey Mackay,
What powder are you running with the 85's?
Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

If it shoots good don't mess with it. All the cals above are very productive in their own way. I ended up with the 6 LR because it was a great deal at the time and it just happen to shot lights out for me. At the time I was considering building a 6 creedmoor. I just finished loading 200 rounds for the LR in hopes of busting up a few P dogs soon.

Hey Mackay,
What powder are you running with the 85's? IMR 4350. 47.5 grains. 3430 out of a Lilja tube.

The super LR sounds like a pretty solid cartridge.

It's on my short(ish) list of wants. For the money invested a plain vanilla .243 is probably it's equal but I've never cared the shoulder and neck. The 6 SLR is the cartridge that Winchester should have released IMO. Hopefully as guys keep building 6SLRs and getting the name out there, Redding die sets will eventually come down in price as a standard catalog listing, and I'll be hooked.

This topic got me looking around and now I'm seriously looking at the 6mm crusader. Basically pretty close to a 6mm Remington Ackley Improved that feeds in AI mags..
Now a have to look at stuff to sell to fund a project...

I am strongly considering a 6mm Comp Match for my next build. Pretty much a twin of the SLR with mild difference.

I was thinking of going with the 6 XC or 6 Creed next, since I sold my LR .243 that I built on a Savage. That SLR looks like I should give it a thought as well. Who has the dies readily available?
