I recently read a post here that said all .375 99's had butt pads. Not so, as I have one NIB in a 99a with a steel buttplate. But thats not what I want to know. There apparently are some of the "Brush" guns out there in the .375 variety with differnt front sights. Some have the same sights as the .358, and some have the same sights as the 99 CD with the big sight hood. There are pics on GI to verify it and I've spoke with multiple owners, some state they never saw one with a hood, some state the hood was original from the factory. I'm first in line on one on GI and need an answer. Please help. PS, I'm the guy on the far left in the Savagefest pics in Sauk City. Thanks fella's

Thanks fella's Savage chambered two styles of 99 in .375 Win, the 99A and the 99A-BG (Brush Gun). The 99A had a steel buttplate and the 99A-BG came with both solid and vented rubber buttplates. I've owned all three styles, even shot a couple of deer with one of the 99A-BGs about thirty years ago. I've only seen late 99Cs and 99CDs with hooded front sights. All of the 99A-BGs in 358 that I recall seeing had vented recoil pads.

I agree, but what about the front sights? There are most definately .375's with two kinds of front sights. Have you seen them both with and without the hood? My real question is "Where can I find the hood as it is missing from the gun thats for sale?

I have a NIB .375 with a cylindrical/rounded front sight hood, if that's any help. As to where you could find one of them, more informed minds than mine on here probably know.

I thought Williams too but looked in the catalog and didn't quite see a match. Quit looking and didn't go online.
I thought I remembered someone here getting one from Williams. Most of the old timers have left Williams so it's hard to get info on the 99s.

All the Williams front sight ramps I saw are 2 holers and Savage used 1. None of the Williams ramps had the appearance of the Savage either.
