I have some that is closer to 5 years old and it still kills weeds.

A mix of distilled vinegar, Epson salt ams liquid dish detergent kills just as well and doesn't cost but a 10th to make. Plus your not funding Monsanto.

There are several other brands of glyphosphate besides Roundup - most of them less expensive and with the same exact ingredient. In fact Monsanto also makes another brand that is roughly half the price of their own Roundup.

Just make sure it is the 41% or better concentrate rather than the diluted grade sold at retail stores. It only takes 1+1/2 to 2 oz. per gallon of water. so I doubt there is that much savings using a vinegar mix.

As to shelf life, I have read that it is good for many years.

Yeah, but most of that stuff is edible. Doesn't matter that it works just as well.

Roundup is a herbicide.

That means it kills plants.

Glyphosate will keep for many years, I buy it in 2.5 gal jugs & use it for years. Go to any co-op, farm supply, or tractor supply company & get the generic 41% stuff in 2.5 gal. It goes up & down in price but sometimes I've found it for around $30. Mix it at 2-4 oz. to the gallon & it'll go a long way.

We use something like 70-100 gallons in a season.

Also it goes into a 25 gal tank and a 40 gal tank on John Deere "Gators." Use it to spray ditches and in the pecan orchard. Got to be careful in the orchard,want little to no wind when spraying.

Weeds are a pest. The term "pesticide" is a catch all.

Insecticide kills insects.

So,when it's time to kill spider mites I'm supposed to buy a herbicide like Roundup?

All insecticides are pesticides. Not all pesticides are insecticides.

You'd better let the Fed and the State of Texas know about this. Seem they consider herbicides and insecticides BOTH a "pesticides".

At least that was what we were taught in "Pesticide Applicators" license school last year.
