There was a post on here not too long ago and I cannot find this post. Wondering when you fire three shots, two shots are touching and one is approx. 1" away, do you load the next bullet further away from the lands? For example I test a 31.0 H4895 with Hornady 75g HP in the 243Win and backed off the lands by .010. Should I seat deeper to get tighter clusters?
FWIW this compact Ruger rifle I have tested Hornady 75gr. HP, and NBT 95gr and both print the same thing. I forgot if I should seat deeper and how much are we talking about. Book suggest seat is 2.640" if I remember and my "off the lands" is slightly shorter like 2.620" or so Thanks for the ideas.

I asked the same question a while back and was told to seat deeper(further from lands) in .005 increments. Worked for me. Tightened the groups right up in both rifles I tried it on.
When possible, I always start with the bullet touching the lands. That way I only have one direction to worry about when changing seating depth.
Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.

If your groups are 2 in, and one out, you seat deeper.
You didn't use logic or reason to get into this opinion, I cannot use logic or reason to get you out of it.

How do you know it's not two out and one in? Hard to say anything definite with a 3 shot group.

You start to wait longer between shots... First shot cold barrel is the "Odd One" the Two touching is when the barrel and chamber are heated up All my Mosin's do this, every time. Let you gun cool down 15-20 minutes between shots. Bring a 22 to plink with while you're waiting

I never use the 2 in - 1 out except in a sporter weight and below. but if I can get a sporter or light weight to put 1 out within a 1/4 inch to the pair, I call it good. Varmint weight tubes are always 5 shots.

Your barrel is definitely shot out.
Time to send it to the smith for a new Krieger.

Time to send it to the smith for a new Krieger. Wish I could. Send it back to who made it, instead of 223 it would be a Deuce or Deuce mag.
