Hoping for a Colorado mule deer tag, Craig area. Friends tell me that taking my 14 inch 7-30 would be crazy. I'm accurate to 200-225 yards. Am I crazy for even think about it? Any one here hunt mulies with a single shot pistol? If so what kind of experiences?

I think it's a great idea, put the hunt back in hunting. Use what you want and keep your shots within your range. Last time I was out there I took a .30-40 High Wall with tang sights. Makes it more interesting.

With the skill level you have, you are good to go. I have a 7-30 carbine and absolutely love it. I shoot 120 Nosler BTs out of it.

So which bullet, 120 BT, 130 Speer SPBT, or 139 SST/Interbond? I have shot the BT, SST and Interbond thru my pistol an all shot fairly similar groups. I haven't shot the the 130 SPBT but it adds a little mass but still should move pretty well, with a a B.C.

Blueranger, Go here: http://specialtypistols.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9116079005/m/5530092776Send Bobby a PM. He has been known to kill a critter with the 7mm. And, he is a great guy to talk with.

120 BT. You'll be just fine. I've taken a few in West River SD with my .260 Rem in TC Encore. They aren't bullet proof. Put it in the boiler room and sign your tag.
