No sir I have not. But just think that dying while hunting elephants is a better way to die than most.

. . . dying while hunting elephants is a better way to die than most. I'm guessing the videographer(s) were staying back with the resting client. If they had captured the event it would have been even more "glorious". I'd rather die doing something I consider worthy than wasting away in sickness/old age. To each his own.

I wish most "Edit Reasons" were this honest....

I agree. Capstick wrote in depth in one of his books about the various ways elephants dispatch humans. None of them were pretty! RIP Ian, Zimbabwe and the hunting community have lost a great man.

You want to read something that will really piss you off, read some of the net postings by the anti-hunters regarding this matter. Got to go bring my blood pressure down now... The tolerance of the anti-hunter leftist is on par with Adolph Eichmann's for the Jews.

I leaned a long time ago, it is a damned poor set of feet that will stand around and let your face get beat in...
Genius! How many elephant have you outrun?

Genius! How many elephant have you outrun? When I hunted with Gibbo in 2010 we ran away from elephants, though not charging elephants. I'm still a little embarrassed at how easily then 50 year old Robert outran me...I was 32 at the time!

Godspeed, yes. And the world of hunting is poorer with his passing. But what a magnificent way to go. Yes it is sad, but not really a magnificent way to die... Beats the hell out of rotting away with cancer or dementia. I second this, most vigorously!!!

Kinda sad that they will condemn the death of an animal but rejoice in the death of a human.

Beats the hell out of rotting away with cancer or dementia. Exactly. To die before one's time is unfortunate no matter what the means but to die on your feet doing what you love and enjoy is without the lesser of the evils. My thoughts are with his family and I hope he meets his maker with open arms. I would opt for his death any day or one similar versus laying in a hospital bed in my own excrement with bed sores just waiting to die.

Kinda sad that they will condemn the death of an animal but rejoice in the death of a human. Especially unborn children. Very sorry for Ian and his family. I thoroughly enjoyed him. Is his family being taken care of?
