Might want to raffle off one of those bastard ostriches next year. Twenty five hunters at $120 a pop ought to work out, if all want to get in. Donate the head mount to the lodge, if they pay the taxi. I think we can work something out to raffle TWO birds at a discounted rate....maybe $100 per ticket for each bird! And we will pay for the taxidermy....Lois wants some boots

My vote is that the hunt stay on the East coast, maybe PA. It sounds like TX was fun but I don't think I'm alone when I say that I think the total of costs involved was prohibitive. Just my $.02 I am planning on keeping this hunt in Texas as that's the best place to meet our needs,I realize that it's a long trip for some but I think it's worth it in the end If any one has any suggestions or comments please speak up.

There may be others hunts but this one is going to stay in TX hunting PA isn't really quite what we are looking for in the hunting part of the equation.

Dan,
The Texas hunt seemed like way too much fun to change it and because of that, I think we should keep it.
I'm also going to check out an additional place to hunt in Tennessee this week. That general location seemed to work for a lot of us and the Tennessee hills and the people there are pretty attractive. Unfortunately, the owner of the place we went to before turned out to be big time unreliable. I think we can do much better and give the guys at the Fire more options.

tjm,
I don't think that having a good time in Texas is just luck. I've been there about a dozen times and always enjoyed it. The Texans, the wide open spaces, the hunting and the food all made it memorable and enjoyable for me.
We need to keep on going back. And God bless Dan and the others for making it happen.

Dan: Have you scouted for new ranches etc. that can host the hunt. I like Texas too, but we need one with a buttload -o- pigs!
Ive been pounding around down there and can tell you a couple NOT to go with....

There is a gigantic payoff for taking the time to find the right place to hunt. There is plenty of time to do this and it will be time well spent.
And I have no doubt that Dan will find the right place.
It may help him if some members know of good places to hunt and which to avoid and pass that on to Dan. I've heard that Texas is a pretty large place!
