.......what would it be. I know this is not how it is in real life, but just for fun, play along. One revolver, regardless of caliber. And why? Pictures welcome.......One revolver over all others..... I guess it would be the one I use the most, my S&W Model 13, round butt, three inch bull barrel. Lots of versatility.

Dang it, Hawk! How do you guys manage to acquire so many big bore handguns!?
I've been in literally dozens of gunshops in both Pennsylvania and Indiana and it's scarce find 44mag or 45colts!
Leo Gotta buy when the commies aren't throwing a fit, which these days is rare.

One? Ouch. I think for my combination of uses where I currently live the best fit would be a Super Blackhawk stainless with the 5.5 inch barrel. Tom

[quote=budman5] Love my kit gun I agree about "Kitgun Love." The big bore revolvers are fun but not for general walking around plinking fun. I have a 5 1/2" .44 Special Bisley that is a joy to carry and shoot but I don't shoot it as often as the .22's or .32's when out walking around. the .32 Long, .32 Magnum and the .327 Federal have taken the place of my .22 Kitguns as we had to stop shooting .22's when the source dried up. Too bad as the .22;s were a lot of fun.

This is close, but still not a 38-40. 686+, 7 shots of pure death... at about age six i was bugging my dad to shoot his revolver. A 1900's vintage colt bisley saa in 38wcf. He eventually let me do it at dusk one day. The fireball and recoil scared the socks off of me, which probably was the idea. I still have that revolver that many years after his death i took the grips off and found an inscription about it killing a grizz bear. It was also used prior to him getting it in killing a man in prescott. I finally came across a buckeye special blackhawk in 38wcf, but was missing the 10mm cyclinder. Ruger was kind enough to fit one and serial number it to the revolver. I get a kick out of the 40s&w, which is nothing more than the 38wcf. mighty fine grips on the revolver by the way.

I've done some things with my 6" M57 that are hard to imagine, and it really fills the bill for most anything one needs, so I am sort of hard pressed to pick just one. It's great on deer and antelope. In this case, however, I'll have to modify what DocRocket said about the 686 and apply it to the L500, and for the reasons listed, go with the Linebaugh. As much as I like my 41's and 44's, my "last resort" revolver would be a 5-inch .500 Linebaugh. I have one of these in my safe and shoot it a lot. In my view, the L500 is more versatile than any big bore revolver could ever hope to be. Relatively small and compact considering the horse power, with light loads it's suitable for small game and light loads are more than adequate for personal defense. And medium loads will work to bring down any large game in North America including the big bears, while heavy loads are suitable for African DG.
How many obama supporters does it take to change a light bulb? None, they prefer to remain in the dark.

It's kinda like the question of "if you could only have one knife?" Big blade or little blade? The rationale for my answer is always the same... a big blade can be made to do little knife work but not vice versa. So it is the same for one handgun for me. I'd take the most accurate, compact and lightweight SA or DA in .45 Colt that I could find. A SAA sized gun would suit me just fine
