I've found that the flavor or Rainbow can vary depending on when it is caught. Nothing is at it's best when it's spawning. Maybe you're just a salmon guy. I can't handle Cod. It smells like a bad piece of azz to me but some folks dig it.
Most my trout comes out of the Great Lakes and it's tributaries which are damn cold and trout does well taste-wise when in cold water IMO.

There isn't much I won't eat when cooked right and seasoned properly. A little salt and pepper and some days I'd eat the azz out of a skunk. Some things folks eat though isn't right. These TV shows with people eating bugs and worms is where I draw the line. Unless starving or drunk of course

All the Cod I've had has been store bought so probably not a fair eval on it. It was probably some old river carp labeled Cod for all I know. Haven't had much on real Ocean fish outside of the usual suspects at a restaurant. I had some bonefish and barracuda during my trip to Belize a couple of weeks ago. Not bad. I do like a mess of slab side crappies though smile

Yeah the initial bite isn't the issue it's the crawling, wriggling and squirming the rest of the way down that would get me.

The salt-water fish I eat is store bought.

The fresh-water fish is usually caught by my uncle when he goes to the lake. Then I'll pick up a coupla bags and defrost then chow down.

I could to a certain degree. When it comes to eating an animals pecker or uterus I draw the line!

In no particular order, yucky stuff I cannot eat or drink:

1. Liver, and any liver-flavor meat such as doves and most wild ducks.
2. Red-meat salmonoids, which include all trout and salmon
3. Mangoes
4. Jalepeno chilies with seeds (like the flavor, can't stand the heat)
5. Buttermilk
6. Shrimp scampi (breaded and fried, yummy!)

I've seen people eat lutefisk and claim they liked it.
